Character Design - Dragon Boy

Another character design project during my time in Sheridan's Computer Animation program. We were required to come up with a character's personality and backstory first, then incorporate design after. The backstory I created for this fellow is as follows:

Eskil is a young dragon boy that may appear intimidating on the outside (from his dragon-like features) but is actually sweet. He lives in the volcanic lands of the dragonkind, a landscape hostile to outsiders. Much like the rest of his kind he has fiery breath and the ability to fly.
He wants to explore the world beyond the lands of his dragon-folk. However, foreigners are often wary of him because of his dragon heritage. Eskil’s goal is to bridge the gap between his kind and foreigners and to live in harmony. What separates him from his own kind is his curiosity and eagerness to meet people that are different from him.
